This was our first extended Jeep trip. Sawyer and I (and Jake the Newf) took the Jeep to Colorado and for the first time, we visited the Sand Dunes. I’ve been back several times since then.
We Jeeped the Medano Primitive Road, climbed the highest dune, camped out in the back country and eventually made our way over to Telluride where Jill and Angela met us after flying into Montrose.
We stayed at Mountain Lodge Resort (dog friendly) and used that as a base for the rest of the vacation.
We Jeeped the trails into and out of the Telluride, Silverton area, but we never actually ran the whole Alpine Loop. I have since been back there and run all of it over the different passes. On this trip, we enjoyed the scenery, hiking, and horseback riding.
We also visited Mesa Verde and that peaked my interest in the Old Ones that would stick with me for many years.
